Women's Tennis: a lesbian thing?

I am watching "live" the final of the WTA in Miami, between Serena Williams and Justine Henin. I am not really into sports. Going out on the bike is more of a transportation thing than a sport. But I do watch a lot of them since Eurosport is one of the channels I have available. Well, my point is, most of my lesbian friends follow tennis. One of my friends used to get the day off from work to attend the US, Open in New York. Of course there are many lesbians in the sport, real and fake (let's not forget the late Dana Fairbanks!) But who else follows this? Nobody I know that is straight is even interested in Tennis. So, that's why I ask if Women's Tennis is more of a lesbian thing. I guess all the people that play the sport are also interested.
And by the way, I can't imagine that Serena Williams is comfortable playing with such big earrings! But aparently she is! And she just won! Congratlations! (maybe the earrings helped her)

Another comic around

You Don't Say? by Rain

Check it out.

Messing around with color

I am not a designer, but last night I couldn't sleep, so I tried a little painting software I found on my computer. This is what came out. Today is a beautiful day, and I'm going out with a friend. I'll take pictures.

So, if you have another language to add or any commets, please feel free to leave a note! Thank you everybody!!!

The L Word

I finally read the recaps that Scribegrrrl wrote in afterellen.com. I love her writing! She makes me laugh so much! You really should check her out.
What happened to Jenny? I don't know why, but this is a character I just can't stand! She went from crazy to more crazy, to power driven bitch... I'm glad they fired her from the movie! I guess this season was a little bit better than the last, for what I saw and I read. Is there going to be a 5th season, and will someone live happily ever after?
I miss Dana, she was my favorite!
Oh, and since I read the recaps, I am thinking seriously that flowers are not exactly the best gift!
I only gave flowers once to a former girlfriend. Never again.
Well, the day in Berlin is nice enough to go out on the bike, so, I'll do that now!

Another graphic for "Lesbian without borders"

This cute graphic was done by Dona from GG2. She is one of those great virtual friends that I found over a lesbian group that has been incredibly suportive in hard times. Thank you Dona and thanks to everybody at GG2.

The Gay Smart.

I was coming home and drove by a new store that sells only Smart cars. They are very famous in Europe, very small and city friendly cars, since they take very little space for parking. Well, right in the store there was a pink Smart with 2 Rainbow flags on its windshield. There were few Other Smarts there, many colors, each with a personality. But the "Gay" Smart caught my attention.

Out of shape

Today, for the first time in a long while I drove the bike to meet my girlfriend. It was more or less 10 Kilometers, or a little over 6 miles. And it really kicked me! I am so out of shape! I remember when I got my bike brand new, I was biking all over, no matter if it was winter or summer. And I was doing around 10 miles every day, (16-17 Kilometers) so I was in very good shape with the bike. So, I have to get back into it, and take advantage of Berlin, since it is so flat and easy to go around on a bike. Besides, people in general and drivers specially are aware of bikers, so I feel pretty safe in Berlin.
If you are visiting Berlin, the best way to go around is to rent a bike. The Deutsche Bahn has special bikes that one can rent and leave anywhere. It is an interesting concept. The bikes are in top condition, the registration is done online or by phone, and when you see a bike that is available, you can call the number and rent it.
If you want more info on this, check out their site, and choose the "English Summary" if you don't speak German.

Out Dancing!

Last night I went out dancing with my girlfriend and another two friends. We went to Serene, which is a bar here in Berlin that has Girl Dance parties every saturday. Last night's DJ was pretty decent. At that bar I discover the importance of the DJ! Once there was this DJ that was so bad! Almost nobody was dancing, and she could not mix music to save her life!
So, yes, it is important to have a DJ that can "read" the crowd and play music that people would want to dance to.
Of course today I woke up feeling that smoke filled air in my throat, not to mention my clothes.
I like it better when the place is a smoke free environment, but here in Berlin, they are still smoking.
I'm happy my girlfriend stopped smoking!

TV shows

I only have a couple of TV channels in English here in Berlin: CNN and BBC. The other channel I watch that has some English programming with German subtitles is MTV. They are showing now "Flavor of Love" and I can't believe how incredibly tasteless is this show! All those women trying to get the attention of this guy!
But I admit, it is like watching a car accident: I find it terrible but can't stop watching,
When I was in New York a couple of weeks ago, I saw "I Love New York" on VH1, and couldn't do anything but laugh! It is bad, terrible!
I enjoy the documentaries that the German television has. They are very interesting. I enjoy particularly the ones showing how they make something or how things work.
I take watching shows in German like my German class, to improve my German skills. "Desperate Housewives" is not the same. Neither is "Sex and the City", and Tony Soprano without that italian accent from Jersey is so NOT him! I hate the dubbing to German!
I also find interesting the lack of sensorship, so you can see full frontal nudity on public TV and it is absolutely normal.
It is a cultural thing! Germans have no problem taking all their clothes off.
In the summer, when you go around the Tiergarten, which is a park like Central Park in NY, people are sunbathing completely naked. And it is the most normal thing!
I enjoy seeing it, but I can't bring myself to do it.

Lesbian comics

There is a comic on the web that I like very much.
I wish I had that kind of comics when I was young! Maybe I would've accepted myself sooner instead of trying to be straight.
I knew I was different, but I had nowhere to turn and see that being a lesbian was actually not a terrible thing. I was just different.
So, I found this website, the comic is called Yu + Me. I read the whole thing! It is fun, fresh, and the author is pretty talented.
She is even getting it in a book.

Beautiful day!

The sun woke me up, and that is something rare.
That makes me feel pretty good already.
I was reading about the cancer relapse of John Edwards' wife.
I can imagine how she feels, but I can't help but think that he will use this as a political element for his intentions in the run for the presidency.
I will support Hillary. I always liked her, and I really hope she gets a chance at it.
I even sent her a message on her website, and it was great to receive an e-mail from her.
(Of course I know it wasn't really her but her campaign using her name, but still, I have an e-mail from Hillary Clinton in my Hotmail inbox!)
On the other hand, as a New Yorker, I like Giuliani too...
but being gay and republican is an oximoron!
The same thing with being catholic and gay. An Oximoron.
That's why I am a former catholic.

Idea of a graphic

I am thinking of a way to express this idea of being a Lesbian without borders.
I have in mind a design, and I'll try to put it together. Oh by the way, I'm not a designer!
I am a writer basically. I wanted something simple and easy, and this is what came out:

What do you think?

Spring rambling

I am in Berlin right now. The weather sucks!
Since I hate to go out on this weather, I've been reading
the recaps of 'Work Out" on Afterellen.com.
The people that do recaps there are so funny!
Specially Scribegrrrl. I never miss 'the L word" recaps, since I can't see it in Berlin.
There have been times where I've been sitting in front of the computer,
laughing out loud like a maniac, with the comments that girl writes.
I wanted to check out the Showtime website, but it says it is not available for people outside USA.
Life as a foreigner is not so easy.
But at least I am close to my girlfriend, and everything is worth it! Even this bad weather!
