TV shows

I only have a couple of TV channels in English here in Berlin: CNN and BBC. The other channel I watch that has some English programming with German subtitles is MTV. They are showing now "Flavor of Love" and I can't believe how incredibly tasteless is this show! All those women trying to get the attention of this guy!
But I admit, it is like watching a car accident: I find it terrible but can't stop watching,
When I was in New York a couple of weeks ago, I saw "I Love New York" on VH1, and couldn't do anything but laugh! It is bad, terrible!
I enjoy the documentaries that the German television has. They are very interesting. I enjoy particularly the ones showing how they make something or how things work.
I take watching shows in German like my German class, to improve my German skills. "Desperate Housewives" is not the same. Neither is "Sex and the City", and Tony Soprano without that italian accent from Jersey is so NOT him! I hate the dubbing to German!
I also find interesting the lack of sensorship, so you can see full frontal nudity on public TV and it is absolutely normal.
It is a cultural thing! Germans have no problem taking all their clothes off.
In the summer, when you go around the Tiergarten, which is a park like Central Park in NY, people are sunbathing completely naked. And it is the most normal thing!
I enjoy seeing it, but I can't bring myself to do it.

Hey Sally-

At least you picked the coolest German city as your new home base. Berlin rocks :)
I'm living in the western part of Germany and actually it's not that bad here either.

I totally agree on your views of dubbed TV shows and movies. Dubbing sucks. The most fun gets lost. Plays on words don't work and accents are skipped altogether.
Yesterday I watched the pilot of the show "The Closer" with Kyra Sedgwick and I was surprised that her character who is said to be coming from Atlanta, speaks with a very broad southern accent that I sometimes had trouble to understand. That was cool ;)

I also hate it that CNN and MTV are the only options to watch stuff in English. I don't get BBC though. Bummer.

The MTV Show "Flavor of Love" is hilarious and ridiculous at the same time. I agree with you on that as well.
In the last issue of OUT mag I read that this crazy chick New York finally got her own show after being ditched in the finale twice. That is really weird. Who wants to see that woman? There is just a lot of soap opera and bitchy drama going on with her around. And she doesn't even play the 'girl madly in love' convincingly ;)
What do you think?

Have a nice day Sal,

Thank you Basha!
So good to find someone who thinks alike!
I was in New York a couple of weeks ago, and actually got to see the show "I Love New York", and she is just terrible! And not convincing whatsoever!
I chose Berlin because I have friends here, and my girlfriend lives here. I'll check your profile!
Thank you for visiting!

I agree. If New York was the only option, I'd be with guys ;)
I'm not talking about the city though. I LOVE NYC.
